In the first article, we learned how to study chemical reactions in depth, including elements, electronic configuration, valency,, radical and chemical reactions.

Today we will see at the some factors that help a chemical reaction i.e. the factors that affect the rate of a chemical reaction.

ЁЯО╖ Factors that affect chemical reactions are as follows

1. Nature of reactant :- when aluminium Al and zinc Zn react with dilute hydrochloric acid hydrogen gas H2 is liberated but rate of aluminium reaction is faster as compared to zinc.

Reactivity of the element determines the rate of reaction.

The nature of metal affects the rate of reaction.

2. Particle size of the reactants :-

The rate of chemical reaction depends on the particle size of the reactant . The smaller the particle size of the reactions the faster the chemical reaction.

Ex . Shahabadi floor CaCO3 and shahabadi floor powder when react with dilute sulphuric acid H2SO4 than reaction of shahabadi powder  is faster as compared to floor.

The reason behind that is the more surface area  available in chemical reaction the faster the chemical reaction takes place.

3. Temperature of chemical reaction :-

The rate of chemical reaction depends on temperature as the temperature is more than the rate of chemical reaction is also more. Temperature is indicated by triangles sign on arrow

4. Catalyst :-  By mere presence of which increases the rate of chemical reaction but does not cause any chemical change in the substance  is called as catalyst.

Nickel Ni catalyst is used when vegetable ghee is prepared from vegetable oil.

When potassium chlorate KClO3 is heated Oxygen gas is released very slowly , but meganese dioxide is used as a catalyst to release oxygen rapidly.

5. Concentration of reactants :-

Concentration means amount..

Solution = solute+ solvent

The solution in which the amount of solute is less than required is called dilute/ mild solution.

The greater the concentration of reactants the faster the chemical reaction.

The rate of concentrated acid is more than the dilute acid.
